"Health inequalities: measurement and promotion of well-being and evaluation of interventions to promote health and well-being in midlife"

You are invited to the fourth seminar in this fascinating and influential series that will help shape the LHC’s recommendations to the Mayor for his new Health Inequalities Strategy for London.

Aim: This seminar will bring together experts to lead discussion on key issues relating to inequalities in health: inequalities in the use of health care services; the development of self-evaluation instruments to promote health and well-being; and the need for well designed, appropriate and meaningful evaluation of complex interventions designed to address and better understand inequalities in health and well-being.

Speakers
Dr Mark Ashworth (GP, Chair of the STarNet Mental Health Interest Group, and Honorary Senior Lecturer, Department of General Practice and Primary Care King’s College London. )
"Exploring health inequalities using large databases: a national study of primary care quality indicators and a PCT study of ethnicity and mental health."

Dr Alizon Draper (Nutritional anthropologist in the School of Integrated Health, University of Westminster)
"Evaluation of complex interventions to improve health: implications for health inequalities"

Professor Angela Clow (Professor of Psychophysiology, Department of Psychology, University of Westminster)
"Use of salivary cortisol as an objective biological marker of well-being"

Professor Phil Evans (Professor of Psychology, Department of Psychology, University of Westminster )
"Development of the DoH Midlife Lifecheck: implications for health inequalities"
The seminar will be followed by a networking reception from 5 - 6pm. Refreshments will be served.
