Health Challenges
Our LHC Challenges define specific, measurable and realistic action for all partners for this mayoral term.

They have been designed to make a tangible difference to the health of our priority groups and will help to reduce health inequalities in London.

Jennette Arnold, LHC Chair said: "By setting out these four Health Challenges we are targeting action, and showing leadership, where it is most needed to improve Londoners' health…. We urge organisations in all sectors to join forces with us and take up the Challenges. They may not be easy but they will be achievable and will make a real contribution to reducing unacceptable health inequalities among Londoners."

The Challenges are:

  • Challenge 1: Increase the number of Disabled people and employment
  • Challenge 2: Introduce completely Smoke-free London
  • Challenge 3: Improve access to effective Language support services for their users
  • Challenge 4: Help improve the emotional health and wellbeing of Young Londoners

Work is underway on all the Challenges. Action on Challenges 1 and 2 will be stepped up during 2006 and on 3 and 4 during 2007.
