Our LHC Challenges define specific, measurable and
realistic action for all partners for this mayoral term.
They have been designed to make a tangible difference to the health
of our priority groups and will help to reduce health inequalities
in London.
Jennette Arnold, LHC Chair said: "By
setting out these four Health Challenges we are targeting action,
and showing leadership, where it is most needed to improve Londoners'
health
. We urge organisations in all sectors to join forces
with us and take up the Challenges. They may not be easy but they
will be achievable and will make a real contribution to reducing unacceptable
health inequalities among Londoners."
The Challenges are:
- Challenge
1: Increase the number of Disabled people and employment
- Challenge
2: Introduce completely Smoke-free London
- Challenge
3: Improve access to effective Language support services
for their users
- Challenge
4: Help improve the emotional health and wellbeing of
Young Londoners
Work is underway on all the Challenges. Action on Challenges 1
and 2 will be stepped up during 2006 and on 3 and 4 during 2007.
