children and young people's emotional
health and wellbeing in London.
- Driving action on the key priorities for London in relation
to the 'Improving health' outcome of Every Child Matters and contributing
to the development of London-wide work on Every Child Matters
as a whole.
The forum is chaired by Government Office for London's (GOL) Director
of Children and Learners, Jennifer Izekor.
Organisations represented include: National Healthy Schools, London
Development Centre for Mental Health, Sport England, Sure Start,
National Council of Voluntary Childcare Organisations and the Big
Lottery Fund.

health authorities have all pledged investment for 2006-08.
"The London Health Commission offers us a unique
and powerful vehicle for fulfilling our aspirations to work in partnership
to deliver national policy and programmes in a joined up way across
London. We have designated the LHC Children and Young People's Forum
as the 'Be Healthy' working group on the Every Child Matters agenda;
it brings together senior staff, working on the children's agenda,
from the many organisations across London that are key to delivery
of change for children."

The Healthy Young London Campaign

Activity is focussed on the Healthy Young London campaign which
was launched on 15 July 2004 at Wellington School, Tower Hamlets.
The campaign has 3 parts:
The campaign was launched with the support of the Food
Standards Agency (FSA) and took place during a visit of the
Focus on Food/
FSA Cooking Bus to the school. The press
release is available to download.
The Cooking Bus visited four sites in London during July 2004.
In addition to these visits we have been working with local partners
to facilitate a series of roundtable discussions to examine the
key issues, opportunities and barriers to providing healthy food
choices in London's schools and to hear examples of good practice.
Four roundtable events will be taking place.
