We focused on
health inequalities and the messages we should be sending back to
the Mayor and his team developing the London
Health Inequalities strategy.
Delegates heard
presentations from Hilary
Thomson, MRC Social and Public Research Unit, Glasgow and Alex
Scott Samuel, Liverpool University and Helen Davies, Greater
London Authority.
Key learning
points from a wide ranging discussion were:
- Clarity is
needed on the contribution of all organisations and sectors -
all the responsibility should not be loaded on to the local level
- We need better
ways of sharing evidence of what works
- More action
needed to address worklessness in marginalised groups - through
innovative approaches
