How healthy is London? LHC's Health in London report 2006/07 will be launched on 30th April 2007

The LHC is pleased to announce that our 2006/07 Health in London report will be launched health in london report 2006/07  cover on 30 April 2007 at an evening reception from 5.30pm at University of East London's Docklands campus.

The lauch follows the first of our seminars in "The time is now" series at 3pm. (Details below).

This year's report presents the latest analysis and trends on our 10 high level indicators of health including life expectancy, infant mortality, education, housing and transport. This is the fifth edition - previous issues are available at the LHC website: www.londonshealth.gov.uk/hinl.htm

In addition this report includes the findings of an independent research review of activity and progress by LHC partners to tackle health inequalities.

Title: Health Inequalities - Seminar one in "The Time is Now", LHC Spring/ summer 2007 seminar series.
Date: Monday 30th April
Time: Seminar 3-5.30pm, followed by:
Health in London report launch 5.30 - 7.30pm
Venue: University of East London, Docklands Campus Map and directions

Speakers include:
Hilary Thomson, MRC Social and Public Research Unit, Glasgow.
‘Economic and neighbourhood regeneration as a healthy investment - a solid foundation?’

Alex Scott Samuel, Liverpool University. What are the causes of health inequalities and how could the Mayoral strategy address them?

The seminars will give a unique opportunity for academics, policy makers, strategic planners and practitioners across all sectors to take a fresh and radical new look at the challenges that London’s diverse communities face and to propose solutions. The series has been developed by the LHC Inequalities and wider determinants forum.
